ON THE OCCASION OF THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE 2021
A Call from 30 artists inviting you to
join the SIMORGH of Peace for Afghanistan
By defending the rights of Afghan people, we are defending our own.
We, artists, declare our solidarity with Afghan women and men whose human rights are being violated and threatened by the new Taliban regime in the country.
We want to help support them through OPEN ASIA|Armanshahr, a Franco-Afghan human rights organisation founded in 1996 and member of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH).
Forming and federating a young generation of women and men from civil society in Afghanistan and the region, the Organisation fights for gender equality, for the defence of all civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights. It struggles against impunity for international crimes, and is engaged in favour of peace and justice. It also promotes culture and the arts through: a committed publishing house, unique in the region, an International women's film festival (40Braids), an International peace prize; SIMORGH (the mythical bird; symbolising the renewed unity of 30 intrepid birds).
We, artists are devastated to see the return of the Taliban and the obscurantism and violence they impose.
That is why we are mobilizing, by donating a work (painting, sculpture, photo) for sale to support OPEN ASIA|Armanshahr to continue to: Protect colleagues, Afghan partners and their families in danger in Afghanistan, and those facing new needs as refugees in France or in other European countries.
